Regulatory notes

How we operate in Tennessee

These are the rules that shape a job here; we plan around them at the survey, not on site.

  • Tenn. Code Ann. 39-13-903(a)(6) bars flying within 250 feet of critical infrastructure facilities, such as electrical, chemical, and water treatment plants, for surveillance without consent, a Class E felony.

  • Tenn. Code Ann. 39-13-903(a)(1)-(5) makes unlawful surveillance of a person or private property by drone a Class C misdemeanor, with each captured image a separate offense.

  • Tenn. Code Ann. 39-14-405 extends criminal trespass law to drone overflight of private airspace without consent, a Class C misdemeanor.

  • Nashville: Metro Code 13.24.400 permits drone flight only in designated areas of Warner Park, Peeler Park, and Cane Ridge Park, and requires a permit.

  • Nashville International Airport (BNA) sits under Class C airspace that was expanded to run from the surface to 6,000 feet within 7 miles of the airport; LAANC authorization is available for operations under 400 feet in that area.

  • Tennessee requires a state contractor license for any single contract or combined contracts on one project exceeding $25,000 in labor and materials; pressure and soft washing are not separately licensed but fall under this threshold if part of a larger job.

  • Nashville's Illicit Discharge Ordinance, Metro Code 15.64.205, prohibits non-stormwater discharges, including wash water from cleaning operations, into community waters or the municipal storm sewer system, with civil penalties up to $5,000 per day.

What to expect in Tennessee: two documented projects

We have not yet published a documented project in Tennessee. Until we do, the two jobs below are the reference for scope, duration and price. Both were delivered in Florida, where we operate as Vista Drone Cleaning, with the same equipment, method, insurance and price sheet that crews bring to Tennessee.

Documented project · Florida

Reference project: Belmont Village

Belmont Village Senior Living · Coral Gables, FL, a 130,000+ sq ft luxury senior living high-rise. Delivered in Florida, where we operate as Vista Drone Cleaning.

Belmont Village needed its entire exterior - facade, windows and floor surfaces - cleaned without closing a single entrance or moving a resident. Lifts, scaffolding, swing stages and rope access were all off the table.

Reference project: Miramar Centre II

Workspace Property Trust · Miramar, FL, a four-story Class A office building in Miramar Centre Corporate Park. Delivered in Florida, where we operate as Vista Drone Cleaning.

A prospective tenant walkthrough was booked for Thursday and the job was only confirmed on Monday afternoon. Lifts and scaffolding could not clean the building in the time available, and nothing could block the entrances or take over the parking lot.
